The talk, entitled “Taking innovation to the subsurface: in situ mineral evaluation with innovative geophysical logging tools for mineral exploration (InnoLOG project)“, was one of the invited talks scheduled in one of the 6 Parallel Sessions of the summit focused in the evaluation and availability and resources and innovative exploration technologies.
María José Jurado offered in her talk an updated view of the advances achieved in the development and the integration of the components and software of the borehole logging tools. Jurado also focused a part of her presentation on the successful results obtained in several tests carried out in scientific boreholes and also in exploration boreholes in mines and mining areas. These news tools are being implemented masking use of hyperspectral cameras and laser spectroscopy techniques.
The Raw Materials Summit 2019 is the flagship event organized by the EIT Raw Materials where European experts and from the rest of the world to discuss Innovation and new Techonologies covering the entire raw materials value chain. The event, which this year had around 400 participants, is also an opportunity to understand the European Union positioning concerning the energy transition and the impact this will have on raw materials supply and policies.
The second edition of the practical workshop on “Innovative technologies in exploration and mineral detection” will be held in Barcelona next 12th and 13th of December. As part of INNOLOG professional training and outreach activities, this workshop will provide attendants with an overview on the latest advances and state of the art of innovative downhole imaging and analytical techniques of interest for mineral exploration/exploitation. In this second edition the workshop will focus on the practical use of hyperspectral imaging techniques and also on most recent and new innovations.
Participants from different EIT RM projects, mining industry andservices companies professionals will present advances and future needs in this field. The workshop proved in its first edition as a good opportunity to share with industry professionals and mining companies professionals advances of interest to improve and innovate in exploration and also to stablish synergies between different EIT Raw Materials projects. On December 13th afternoon practical sessions on data acquisition and processing at the ICTJA-CSIC facilities (Downhole andGeophysical Logging Lab), including demos measurements in the Almera-1 and Almera-2 and Almera-3 boreholes.
A practical workshop on innovative technologies in exploration and mineral detection was held in Barcelona in December 2017 (13th-14th). The workshop provided a view of last advances and state of the art of imaging techniques being used in mineral exploration. This first edition was mainly focused on hyperspectral imaging techniques but also other innovative techniques were presented like microwave technologies, x-ray and laser-based techniques.
